The Chairman of the Board of the HARTING Technology Group succeeds Kurt Sievers (NXP Semiconductors Germany), who departs the office after two terms in office in accordance with the customary rotation. Philip Harting is also a member of the board of the ZVEI Central Association of the Electrical Engineering and Electrical Industries.
Harting views his new task as providing an important step towards giving the German middle class a voice in business and society, in particular family-owned businesses: “Digitisation and artificial intelligence are leading to a complete transformation of value chains. The components industry is close to the customer. As a result, we’re always abreast with the times, and together we’re creating an important crossroads as an industry.”
The "Electronic Components and Systems" trade association represents one of the most important and revenue-strong sectors within the electrical industry. With its segments of semiconductors, passive and electromechanical components and microsystem technology – sensors/actuators, the industry achieved sales of almost 17 billion euros in 2016 in Germany.
HARTING Technology Group is one of the world’s leading providers of industrial connection technology for the three lifelines of "Data", "Signal" and "Power" and has 13 production plants and branches in 43 countries. In addition, the company also produces retail checkout systems, electromagnetic actuators for automotive and industrial series use, as well as hardware and software for customers and applications in automation technology, robotics and transportation engineering. In the 2015/16 business year, some 4300 employees generated sales of EUR 586 million.
