With AUREA, 3T analytik is breaking new ground in ‚Genotox‘ risk assessment by the method of DNA strand break analysis on human cells. Based on the preparatory work of the scientists Moreno and Bürkle, the Tuttlingen based specialist was able to automate process-relevant steps of the FADU assay using fluorescence-based detection of DNA strand breaks as a measure of DNA damage.
The automation of the FADU assay is accompanied by a significant reduction in time and personnel costs, and in unprecedentedly high reproducibility. The improved statistical relevance and the speed of the measurements simply convince.
The fully automated method offers true cost advantages to manufacturers and distributors of chemical, pharmaceutical or food products. AUREA gTOXXs is suitable as a screening instrument in the early development process of pharmaceutical and chemical product developments. Users employ new ways to solve specific problems – both on routine tasks and in basic research.
An extended gTOXXs test detects not only DNA damage, but also repair capacity, providing valuable insights into the physiological state of the cells. DNA strand breaks, whether induced exogenously or endogenously, activate the cellular repair systems for the efficient elimination of strand breaks. If the noxious agents influence the repair capacity, there will be an increase in measurable strand breaks. Without much additional effort, AUREA gTOXXs provides this important additional information, which is related to cell viability and long-term effects of the test substances.
Conclusion: The automated screening process differentiates the risk potential with high scalability and certainty in the "early development" by fast, reliable and robust results. Whether sunscreen, hand lotion, superfood or chemotherapeutic agents – safe and increasingly animal-free products thanks to AUREA gTOXXs!
