In it, PI (Physik Instrumente) describes the wide range of its parallel-kinematic positioning solutions including the appropriate controllers and software tools in detail and with all technical data. Typical areas of application are in mechanical engineering and robotics as well as in medical technology, biomedical engineering, astronomy, or motion simulation in several degrees of freedom. In addition to the standard products, exemplary custom developments and solutions for specific markets are presented. A special section, for example, describes particularly fast parallel-kinematic systems for photonics applications.
The product portfolio presented under the title "Hexapod Positioning Systems" ranges from miniature hexapods to heavy load versions which can precisely positions loads weighing tons at a micrometer scale. The systems work either with piezoelectric or electromechanical drives and are usually self-locking. The application always determines the drive technology: Hexapods with piezoelectric PiezoWalk walking drives are suitable for ultrahigh vacuum applications and can also be operated in very strong magnetic fields. Direct-drive Hexapods ensure higher velocities; for industrial use, brushless motors (BLDC) are particularly suitable. The catalog is available for download at www.pi.ws or can be provided in printed form on request.
Well known for the high quality of its products, PI (Physik Instrumente) has been one of the leading players in the global market for precision positioning technology for many years. PI has been developing and manufacturing standard and OEM products with piezo or motor drives for 40 years. By acquiring the majority shares in ACS Motion Control, a worldwide leading developer and manufacturer of modular motion controllers for multi-axis and high-precision drive systems, PI has made a major step forward in providing complete systems for industrial applications with the highest demand on precision and dynamics. In addition to four locations in Germany, the PI Group is represented internationally by fifteen sales and service subsidiaries.
