From “Take, Make, Dispose” Linear Economy to Circular Economy
Increasing demand for raw materials and the consequent resource scarcity, dependence on other countries as well as the negative impact on the environment – these are the reasons why Germany is switching from a linear economy to a circular one.
A circular economy is a regenerative system in which goods are shared as long as possible, reused, recycled or upcycled, so that their lifespan can be prolonged and, at the same time, waste can be reduced to a minimum.
Even when a product has reached the end of its lifecycle, the parts and materials it was made of remain as long as possible in the economy, so that they can be reused and continue to generate value. A circular economy ensures thereby, among other things, greater supply reliability of resources, sustainable products and less environmental impact.
Plastic Recycling Has Become Indispensable
In 2015 Germany alone accounted for 5.92 million tonnes of plastic waste. 2.7 million tons of which – slightly less than half – were recycled. The remaining 53 % ended up in power plants for energy recovery or was incinerated.
„Recycling or rather upcycling of plastic is no longer only a thought experiment,” Stefan Lindner, Managing Partner of Lindner Sprühsysteme GmbH, explains. “The circular economy has become indispensable, as it conserves fossil resources and reduces CO2 emissions as well as microplastic pollution.”
Environmentally friendly plastic bottles from LINDNER
For these reasons, Lindner Sprühsysteme also manufactures bottles from recyclate at its production site in Frankenblick, Thuringia.
Plastic bottles made of recyclate can be produced in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Recycled PE bottles can also be furnished with a see-through window strip, so that the end consumer can gauge the fill level of these non-transparent bottles. The delivery time of recycled bottles averages about 1 to 3 weeks, depending on the design of the bottle.
Sustainable for Customers and the Environment
“We strive to operate in an economically, environmentally and socially sustainable way. Therefore, the manufacturing of the environmentally friendly plastic bottles was the logical conclusion for our sustainability initiative.
Always focused on improving environmental friendliness, while maintaining the same high product quality at the same time. That is our goal – not only for the sake of the environment but also that of our customers,” Stefan Lindner concludes.
