- “Data centre Infrastructure Solutions (DIS)” contract valid until 2025
- Bechtle Brussels to fulfil the contract with storage solutions by Dell EMC
- Contract covers delivery across Europe of infrastructure solutions for data centres as well as services
The EU Commission’s Directorate-General for Informatics (DIGIT) in November awarded Bechtle the framework contract for storage solutions. Bechtle is one of five contractors to supply over 50 EU institutions and 30 EU departments in 28 countries with infrastructure solutions for data centres. The tender clocks in at around 622 million euros in total with a contract duration of seven years. In order to fulfil the various institutions’ requirements, the EU Commission has specified four key manufacturers. Together with its long-time partner, Dell EMC, Bechtle will deliver top-quality storage solutions complete with rollout and maintenance services.
DIGIT supports EU institutions and departments in their daily work, promotes the cooperation between public authorities of EU member states, and acts as a central service provider within the Commission. In order to manage the huge amounts of data that the European Union has to deal with daily, the Directorate-General have opted for cutting-edge storage infrastructure. “Storage solutions from Dell EMC mean that data in a sensitive environment can be processed at the highest technical level. The multi-tier storage architecture can be expanded as needed”, explains Gozard Polak, MD Bechtle Brussels. Bechtle’s systems integrator office in Brussels has been active since 2012. The team organises operative support and oversees the project—supported by other areas of Bechtle AG. Gozard Polak: “We use our expertise to advise customers on finding the right solution plus take care of set-up and maintenance, and that doesn’t just mean the initial installation, but also all retrospective extensions and alterations.”
Customer impressed by Bechtle’s extensive expertise
The high quality of the storage solution, in addition to the comprehensive service provision, were just two of the pivotal factors in DIGIT awarding the contract to Bechtle and Dell EMC. “We’re pleased that our successful partnership with Dell EMC continues to be appreciated. It pays off for us, being a technology partner, to be in a permanent dialogue on innovation with vendors and customers,” says Gerhard Marz, Head of Public Sector, Bechtle AG. In addition to our service network, we also offer the option to lease storage solutions for the duration of a contract via Bechtle Financial Services. Gozard Polak: “We specially trained employees for this commission and also recruited new personnel that have the required level of expertise with Dell EMC storage solutions. Our team is perfectly positioned to respond to a wide range of requests and develop custom-designed storage offerings based on Dell EMC hardware.”
