This reduces the administrative effort required to maintain the supplier master data on both sides by up to 40 percent: suppliers only need to enter their master data once – in a central system that can be accessed by all participating companies. Duplication is prevented by a unique identification of a company – the DUNS number, the VAT number or the unified social credit code, depending on the region. Purchasing companies are able to draw on a master database of the very highest data quality and automatically transfer the current data records to their internal systems via an interface. This enhances the quality of collaboration between companies. In addition, the community effect generates valuable synergies, resulting in low master data management costs for all participating companies.
Bosch, Continental and Schaeffler are among the first SupplyOn customers to benefit from this quality-assured supplier network.
No digitization without correct master data
Although the maintenance of master data seems almost trivial at first glance, it is a fact that inconsistent master data is one of the main problems in the digitization of global supply chains and manufacturing networks. A letter where the address contains a slight spelling mistake will still be delivered – but not an e-mail with the same error. That’s why companies need to act now and do their homework to keep up with digitization.
SupplyOn is expanding this service on an ongoing basis – both in terms of the number of fields required and the number of companies whose master data is managed. This community approach is open to the entire industry.
