Klingspor Abrasive Technology already offers their customers more than 50,000 different tools. The selection also includes a vast number of products that are suitable for processing weld seams. In an effort to provide the user with orientation and guide them to the most effective product at each point of the process chain, Klingspor has now developed an advisory brochure that covers weld seam processing from start to finish.
Weld seam processing in five steps
The first step requires that the raw material be bevelled / cut to the right length. To complete the first step of “cutting”, customers can choose between eight different cutting-off wheels, which have been engineered for the most varied requirements. The criteria that distinguish the different models are the machine used, the material and the thickness of the material.
The next step is “weld seam preparation”. Designed to clean the cut edges, the solutions Klingspor offers for this step are large in number as well. A clean cut edge is essential to preparing a proper weld seam.
The next step of the process involves the main task of weld seam processing – “stock removal grinding”. For this step, customers can select from a range of around 15 products that also factor in the different shapes of the weld seam such as fillet weld, corner weld and interior welds.
The fourth step focuses on “fine grinding and finishing”. Klingspor offers a large variety of approaches for an extensive range of machines. Customers can pick from a total of 14 products – each of which is described in detail in terms of its benefits and fields of application.
The last step “cleaning“ is mostly concerned with the removal of heat tinting. This section mainly presents Klingspor’s non-woven fabric solutions.
Positive feedback from all sides
The aspect customers appreciate the most about the new approach is its practical applicability to the actual work process. “Dealers and users alike are able to see at first glance which tools are suited best for which work step and which type of material”, explains Ibraim Lapa, Klingspor’s Director of Business Development. Also, the information on the products is arranged in a particularly clear manner. “Customers are in a position to immediately compare their individual needs with the products we offer in our selection. No matter if they require a long service life or an abrasive that is particularly aggressive: we will help them arrive at their decision faster and with greater confidence.”
