The results show:
– au achieves the highest score with 942 points
– NTT docomo ranks second with 939 points, SoftBank is third with 926 points
– au rates highest in Coverage for Voice, Coverage for 4G and Data Service Availability
– NTT docomo scores highest in User Download Speed and User Upload Speed
– au and SoftBank achieve the highest score with 139 points each in Coverage for Data
The analysis is based on 3.7 billion samples collected from 374 thousand users overall in 99.3 percent of the urban built-up area and in 95.7 percent of the non-urban built-up area throughout Japan. The data was collected in a consecutive 6-month period from December 2018 to May 2019.
With a score of 942 out of a maximum of 1,000 points, au is ahead of competition in the crowdsourcing based Quality Assessment. NTT docomo ranks second and achieves an overall score of 939 points. SoftBank follows in third place with an overall score of 926 points.
au is ahead of the competition in Coverage for 4G and Coverage for Voice and in Data Service Availability.
In terms of Coverage for Voice, au achieves the highest score with 98 points followed by SoftBank with 94 points and NTT docomo with 93 points. In terms of Data Coverage, au and SoftBank achieve the highest score with 139 points each compared to NTT docomo with 137 points. In the 4G Coverage discipline, au ranks highest with a score of 244 points, followed by SoftBank with 241 points and by NTT docomo with 240 points.
NTT docomo shows the highest score for User Download Speed with 135 points, au is second with 133 points and SoftBank follows third with 125 points. In User Upload Speed ranks NTT docomo also highest with a score of 45 points, SoftBank follows in second place with 36 points, while au ranks third with 28 points. In Data Service Availability, au achieves a score of 300 points, followed by NTT docomo and SoftBank with 290 points each.
