‘We understand our strategy of a customer-oriented approach to be meeting the needs of our target groups,’ the Head of Marketing at the SWISS KRONO Group said. In addition to revamping the look and feel of the One World decor collection, the collection should also be available to users in future as an app. The ‘Timber framework manual’ had already been brought to the market in the form of the Timber Planner as a digitised tool, and now the digital version of the decor collection has followed, as an innovative augmented reality app with a ‘wow effect and more added value’, according to Kölliker.
This project was also implemented together with foryouandyourcustomers and the first release was presented at the Interzum 2019 trade fair in May.
‘We’ve been working intensively with Fabian Kölliker over the past months, refining a forward-looking digital concept for SWISS KRONO that would meet its needs in terms of business-relevant data and state-of-the-art touchpoints,’ Cornelius Kistler from foryouandyourcustomers said when the app was presented. ‘For us, implementing the app was another great opportunity to provide our expertise in the area of technological innovations and user experience, among others, as a benefit to both our customer and their customers as well,’ the Senior Consultant continued. Kistler is very pleased with the result: ‘Together with SWISS KRONO – and thanks to our cross-location collaboration and the involvement of relevant experts from foryouandyourcustomers – we have managed to create an attractive, technologically ambitious app within a very tight timeframe. From the planning phase to the launch, everything was done by us. A wide range of target groups now benefit from this solution: end customers planning a new kitchen, carpenters providing advice and also SWISS KRONO employees, all of whom can access the entire decor collection quickly and easily on the go.’
Conceived as an augmented reality app, this application helps users find the right designs within the ONE WORLD collection for their individual interior design. Each decor can be projected onto any surface using a camera. Users can therefore combine and test the decors in real time on their own individual interiors.
To display the sometimes very detailed surface textures as realistically as possible in the app, all decors were scanned in five dimensions by foryouandyourcustomers. This allows for the degree of shine, three-dimensional surface textures and light absorption capabilities of the decors to be recorded and authentically rendered. In the same scanning process, all attributes of the decors can be defined for BIM use. The data is stored in RAW format so it can be integrated both in existing and in future data management systems and the relevant BIM platforms without risking loss. The SWISS KRONO Group is therefore laying the foundation for future-proof, innovative and digital applications in the interiors and building materials industry.
