Prof. Dr. Sören Auer and Dr. Robert Isele, two key eccenca team members, have been listed as Top 20 Knowledge Engineering Most Influential Scholars of the past 10 years1. The ranking is provided by AMiner, a knowledge graph powered scholary platform of China’s leading Tsinghua University. It aggregates publication data of more than 1.7m scholars from different computer science fields and ranks them by the number of their citations, a key indicator for scientific relevance.

Sören Auer, who is ranked 4th by AMiner, is co-founder of eccenca. Robert Isele, ranked 20th, heads the Artificial Intelligence team at Germany’s leading enterprise knowledge graph company. Google Scholar2 confirms the influence of the eccenca team. The web search engine indexes the full text or metadata of scholarly literature. Overall the eccenca team’s publication output comprises more than 200 scientific articles in the areas of Linked Data, Semantic Technologies, AI, Data Integration and Knowledge Engineering, attracting overall more than 20.000 citations. The number cements their influence on thousands of researchers and engineers worldwide who have used and build upon the eccenca team’s findings and knowledge engineering concepts.

"We are extremely proud to have two of the most influential knowledge engineers on board"eccenca-CEO Chris Brockmann exclaims. "When I founded eccenca with Sören Auer, knowledge graph technology was still an academic niché. Thanks to the ambitious knowledge engineering community worldwide, knowledge graphs have become the backbone of digital transformation. And knowledge engineers like Sören Auer, Robert Isele or other eccenca members like our CTO Dr. Sebastian Tramp and project manager Jörg Unbehauen have always been pushing the envelope".

eccenca was founded by Chris Brockmann and Sören Auer as a spin-off of the renowned AKSW research group in Leipzig, Germany, in 2014. As a result, the eccenca’s flagship knowledge graph software Corporate Memory is based on many years of intensive research, technology insights and real-world validation gained through numerous of research, innovation and industry projects with key enterprise stakeholders. For example, in the EU funded Horizon 2020 project DIACHRON eccenca developed the core data integration technology now part of Corporate Memory. eccenca has also been working with numerous Fortune 500 companies enabling them to master their IT and data complexity. The use cases in those projects range from product knowledge networks to digital supply chain twins to GDPR compliance solutions.

"That is the most intriguing part about knowledge graphs"Prof. Dr. Sören Auer explains his lifelong dedication to knowledge engineering. "Knowledge graphs are applicable in nearly every scenario where different data sources and large-scale linked datasets come into play. Their potential is unlimited. And no other solutions is able to handle the trillions of data points we are facing in a digital world."
