Instead of classic cutting machines, BACA Systems relies on industrial robots from the Augsburg-based automation company to cut stone slabs. The specialist in the development of innovative manufacturing solutions for the stone cutting industry has now ordered 100 KUKA KR 210 QUANTEC robots.
The robots are equipped for their tasks with a 26 HP saw and a waterjet nozzle. The advantages: faster cutting speeds, higher yield and easier product handling. The experts at BACA Systems implement the robots in a complete stone cutting solution.
These successful robotic cells from BACA Systems include the Robo SawJet and the Robolution Pro. The Robo SawJet can cut stones at an angle of 90 degrees vertically to the floor. The Robolution Pro enables so-called miter cuts at the edge of the worktops. A total of 450 KUKA robots have already been used in these two robotic cells in recent years.
KUKA is an internationally active automation group with sales of around EUR 2.6 billion and around 14,000 employees. The company is headquartered in Augsburg. As one of the world’s leading suppliers of intelligent automation solutions, KUKA offers customers everything from a single source: from robots and cells to fully automated systems and their networking in markets such as automotive, electronics, metal & plastic, consumer goods, e-commerce/retail and healthcare.
