- CO₂-compensated "climate" variants of the Wallbox Home Eco and Wallbox Energy Control now available
- CO₂ emissions of these wallboxes are offset by supporting selected climate protection projects
- Production in Germany leads to high transparency in CO₂ emissions
- Cooperation with ZusammenStromen GmbH offers wallbox buyers with an electric car a payout of 400 EUR
- Activities contribute to the Group’s climate neutrality by 2030
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG) is stepping up its sustainability management activities and will offset the carbon footprint of certain AMPERFIED charging stations by purchasing CO₂ certificates. HEIDELBERG has committed to climate neutrality at its sites by 2030, primarily by reducing CO₂ emissions. "We also take HEIDELBERG’s climate promise very seriously with AMPERFIED products," says Robin Karpp, Commercial Managing Director of Amperfied GmbH. “With the HEIDELBERG AMPERFIED brand, we have dedicated ourselves to becoming the technology leader for an emission-free and liveable future. In addition to increasing energy efficiency and using renewable energies, CO₂ compensation is another step on this path.”
An additional offer enables drivers of electric cars in Germany to earn 400 EUR by selling the greenhouse gas reduction quota (GHG quota). For this, Amperfied GmbH cooperates with ZusammenStromen GmbH and their offering "Geld für eAuto" (money for e-car).
CO₂ compensation according to the "cradle-to-gate" principle
For the new "climate" variants of the successful Heidelberg Wallbox Home Eco and Heidelberg Wallbox Energy Control wall charging stations, HEIDELBERG offsets CO₂ emissions by supporting the CO₂OL Tropical Mix climate protection project. The project is certified according to the renowned Gold Standard and aims to reforest a total of 13,242 ha in Panama. The offsetting takes place through so-called emission reduction credits (certificates), with which the same amount of emissions is offset by the above-mentioned climate protection project. The CO₂ footprint of a wallbox is determined from the extraction of raw materials to the finished wallbox. HEIDELBERG determines the CO₂ footprint for printing presses using the same principle which has been certified by the Fraunhofer Institut UMSICHT.
Production in Germany leads to high transparency in CO₂ emissions
Since a large part of the production takes place in Germany, Amperfied GmbH has direct insight into the processes and can influence that the production is as resource efficient as possible. While individual components such as chips are sometimes sourced from abroad, the complete assembly of circuit boards, switchgear and ultimately the wallbox takes place at the Wiesloch-Walldorf site.
Furthermore, when selecting materials, attention is paid to their recyclability. In addition, manufacturing in Germany leads to short transport routes to end customers and thus reduced transport emissions.
CO₂-compensated wallboxes now available
The wallboxes Home Eco climate and Energy Control climate differ from the standard models by an additional graphic on the front panel. Both charging stations are available immediately with a 5-metre charging cable through Amperfied GmbH’s sales partners. The RRP for the Home Eco climate wallbox is EUR 549 incl. VAT, for the Energy Control wallbox EUR 810.
EUR 400 for German electric car owners through sale of GHG quota
By selling their GHG quota via www.amperfied.de/de/clever-laden/thg-quote/, owners of purely battery-powered vehicles in Germany can now earn 400 EUR. To this end, Amperfied GmbH is cooperating with ZusammenStromen GmbH and its "Geld für eAuto" (money for e-cars) offering. Because driving an electric car actively helps to reduce climate-damaging greenhouse gas emissions, owners of purely battery-powered vehicles (cars, motorbikes and scooters with road registration) have been able to certify the CO₂ savings of their electric vehicle since the beginning of 2022 and sell them to companies subject to quotas. The abbreviation GHG quota stands for "greenhouse gas reduction quota". It is intended to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases by making it more expensive to emit them.
