Gold is one of the darlings of investors, but silver, its little brother, is not to be sneezed at either. This is because silver is an industrial metal to around 50 percent, while gold is only used in industry to a relatively small extent. Silver is used in more and more production processes and is indispensable in future technologies. Silver is found in medicines, and because it kills bacteria, it is popular in medicine. Silver is used in the electrical industry and in the chemical industry, often as a component of alloys, as well as in the computer sector. Because of its special properties, silver cannot be replaced by other substances in industry, or only with difficulty. The recycling possibilities are rather low, as the precious metal is often only used in small quantities and recycling would be unprofitable.
A new application of silver was recently launched by NASA with the invention of the silver ion motor. When a satellite or spacecraft is in space, it only needs propulsion power to move. Until now, toxic chemicals were usually used for this purpose. Now the silver ion engine could usher in a new era. Silver is used in the fuel source, along with electrolytes made of silver foil. A spaceship can be moved gently but very precisely with it. Toxic chemicals and a lot of electricity are saved. NASA is now looking for licensees to commercialize this new technology.
Thus, silver companies are coming into focus for investors, for example MAG Silver – https://www.commodity-tv.com/play/mining-newsflash-with-with-victoria-gold-gold-terra-tinone-resources-canada-nickel-labrador-uranium-and-mag-silver/ – with its ambitions to become a primary silver company. The main project is the Juanicipio project in the Fresnillo Trend in Mexico, partner is Fresnillo.
Also in Mexico, Discovery Silver – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzLKx2HriOw&t=176s – has its Codero silver project. This is 100% owned by the company and has a positive preliminary feasibility study.
