The number and complexity of 5G applications is constantly increasing. The network slicing technology used in these applications enables the efficient transmission of data. With this technology, physical networks are divided into several virtual networks and resources such as bandwidth, processing capacity and memory are allocated dynamically. This enables high bandwidth, low latency and high reliability. By using network slicing, 5G networks can meet the different requirements of applications such as Smart Cities, Self-Driving, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality by each being assigned its own virtual network. At the same time, this also means new challenges for data storage.

Innodisk has launched a comprehensive line of industrial-grade storage solutions to enable data storage and access in harsh industrial environments. To meet the high read and write requirements created by IoT devices and AI edge computing, Innodisk has developed a new generation of its patented iSLC technology based on firmware technology. Combined with BiCS5 112-layer TLC 3D NAND Flash, the new network technology improves industrial memory performance to achieve 100K P/E cycles. The lifetime compared to conventional TLC 3D NAND Flash is extended by 33 times.

With many 5G networks, 5G infrastructures and Smart City applications being implemented in harsh outdoor conditions or 24/7 environments, such as smart E-Payment based on AI vision inspection and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), Innodisk leverages its hardware-software integration capability to embedded firmware technologies into the iSLC series. Innodisk’s iData Guard and iPower Guard firmware can perform and protect data transmission in unstable environments to ensure optimal stability and deployment of 5G networks, Smart City and AIoT applications.

The Innodisk iSLC series supports SATA and PCIe interfaces. It is available in various form factors for both standard and extended temperature ranges. The SATA SSD 3IE7 and PCIe 4IG2-P series are available immediately. The PCIe 3IE6 and PCIe 4IE3 series are announced for Q2 2023.
