At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) from February 26 – 29 in Barcelona, German network-infrastructure and security supplier LANCOM Systems is providing a first insight into their future portfolio of Wi-Fi 7 access points. At the stand of LANCOM parent company Rohde & Schwarz (hall 5, booth 5A80), visitors will have an exclusive preview of the first devices to be available from summer 2024. The LANCOM Wi-Fi 7 portfolio offers all of the advantages of the latest wireless LAN generation, which are supplemented by a number of innovative features such as a Scan Radio, redundant PoE supply, and intelligent energy management. The new access points also feature a completely new housing design.

The latest standard Wi-Fi 7, also known as IEEE 802.11be, offers higher data densities, greater channel widths, higher speeds, and innovative functions such as multi-link operation, multi-RU, and puncturing. Like Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 7 uses the 6-GHz frequency band, which is reserved exclusively for wireless LAN, as well as the 2.4- and 5-GHz bands. This enables interference-free Wi-Fi operation with minimal latency and maximum data throughput, all of which are essential for real-time applications such as machine controls or virtual reality.

The two new Wi-Fi 7 access points LANCOM LX-7500 and LANCOM LX-7300 were designed with the clear aim of making professional networks more secure and sustainable while at the same time easing the workload on administrators through high levels of automation:

Secure

  • Security Scan enables radio-field monitoring using a dedicated Scan Radio
  • Dual-PoE-in: Fully redundant power supply to the second switch for maximum reliability (LANCOM LX-7500)
  • Firmware engineered in Germany: Guaranteed freedom from backdoors, secure boot, maximum reliability, and future viability through regular feature and security updates
  • Integrated mounting protection against casual theft

Sustainable

  • LANCOM Sustainability Mode: Reduced energy consumption in the Wi-Fi through technological options and logical control
  • Energy monitoring for the entire network for transparency about energy consumption, savings, CO2 emissions, and CO2 reduction
  • Environmentally friendly packaging: Plastic-free packaging based on paper fibers—a contribution to uncomplicated and sorted disposal
  • Optimized scope of delivery: Avoiding waste packaging and electronic scrap as well as logistics-related CO2
  • Housing made from 100% recyclable materials without glued individual components

Automated

  • Cloud-managed Wi-Fi Zero-touch commissioning, auto-config, 24/7 monitoring & alerting, and Wi-Fi anomaly detection via the LANCOM Management Cloud for minimal manual effort
  • Radio Resource Management: Self-learning automation solution LANCOM Active Radio Control™ 2.0 for optimized Wi-Fi installations at the touch of a button—the Scan Radio allows constant radio-field monitoring
  • Saving energy without risk: Intelligent, cloud-based, dynamically adapting optimization solution LANCOM Active Power Control reduces the energy consumption of the Wi-Fi infrastructure while maintaining operational reliability
