The oneclick™ platform for providing virtual desktops has received a performance upgrade. With its new streaming protocol, it is currently one of the most powerful DaaS and VDI platforms on the market. Thanks to significantly reduced latency and maximum performance, it requires up to 50 percent less bandwidth compared to standard solutions for graphically demanding applications such as video streaming. Working with normal office applications is already possible at 0.3 Mbit/s – roughly the bandwidth of a normal mobile contract. This is made possible by a new, intelligent image analysis that helps to reduce the data rate.

Suitable for web conferences via the virtual desktop

Two other new features of the oneclick™ platform are support for webcams and 2-way audio and video without WebRTC. Video conferencing via tools natively installed on the remote desktop, such as Microsoft® Teams or Zoom, is thus possible with an optimal user experience. This allows companies to take full advantage of the benefits of providing virtual desktops in terms of central administration, scalability, cost efficiency and compliance without having to compromise on functionality or quality.

Graphically demanding tasks with virtual GPU support

With the new performance upgrade, oneclick™ is even better suited to the provision of virtual machines for graphically demanding tasks such as CAD editing. Another plus point: users have the option to flexibly subscribe to GPU support for some or all users in the cloud. As an Nvidia reseller, oneclick Group AG is able to procure and provide the corresponding vWS licenses.

Pascal Poschenrieder, CTO of oneclick Group AG: “We developed the new streaming protocol because we see a clear unique selling point for oneclick™ here. Many solutions for virtual desktops offer a poor user experience. We have set ourselves the goal of providing the best possible support for New Work and the associated remote and hybrid working models. A powerful virtual desktop without restrictions, for example during video conferences, is essential for this. With the new streaming protocol, we are one of the leading providers in this area.”

Cost optimization through autoscaling

The oneclick™ platform also offers granular autoscaling schemes. This allows costs to be saved because unused resources can be scaled up and down either in real time in relation to actual access or based on events at selected times.

The option to integrate various cloud providers or on-premises resources makes oneclick™ a complete platform service for the provision of turnkey virtual desktops.
