TÜV SÜD has entered a strategic partnership with SustainCERT to develop their digital verification platform. The SustainCERT Platform is currently the first and only digital verification platform for Validation/Verification Bodies (VVBs). Both companies will combine their expertise to meet the challenges of a rapidly growing carbon market by digitizing processes of verification leveraging data science and Artificial Intelligence (AI). This will increase the efficiency, transparency, and credibility of the validation and verification processes and contribute to higher integrity in carbon markets.

“We are thrilled about this collaboration”, announces Dr. Céline Bilolo, Chief Sustainability Officer at TÜV SÜD, “TÜV SÜD has around two decades of experience in verifying carbon credit claims in both the regulated emission trading and the voluntary carbon market. By combining our knowledge and capabilities with SustainCERT’s innovative approach—particularly in digitizing verification processes—we aim to enhance efficiency and streamline compliance requirements. This will lead to more transparency, accuracy and traceability of verification data for all parties involved.”

Collaboration is key for transformation

“The transition to digital verification is necessary for carbon markets to reach scale with integrity and collaborations are key to accelerating the adoption of digital technologies. TÜV SÜD’s expertise and global network of auditors, combined with our climate and technological know-how, will allow us to strengthen the SustainCERT platform further as the leading digital verification solution in carbon markets. This partnership is a recognition of SustainCERT’s digital leadership”, explains Marion Verles, Chief Executive Officer, SustainCERT.

Digital and AI-powered platform increases efficiency and credibility

The user-friendly interface improves workflows and unlocks efficiencies for companies, auditors, and certification bodies. Data protection, transparency, and compliance with established standards will ensure the accuracy and trustworthiness of each climate report and promote credible climate protection measures in all carbon markets. The platform is supported by data science, AI, and machine learning, which enables a deeper and more efficient review of emissions data.

Enhance transparency, efficiency, and scalability

“At TÜV SÜD, we are dedicated to pioneering advanced solutions for a sustainable future,” says Mr. Bratin Roy, Global Head of Decarbonisation, TÜV SÜD AG. “By partnering with SustainCERT’s AI-powered platform, we aim to improve the validation and verification process for VVBs in the carbon credit market. This collaboration will serve as a critical enabler of digitalization in this space, aligning seamlessly with globally recognized frameworks. Together, we strive to enhance transparency, efficiency, and scalability in carbon market operations, setting a solid and future-proof framework for an impactful carbon credit market.”

Digitalization ensures quality and reliability

“The focus of our partnership with TÜV SÜD is to develop further the SustainCERT platform and its capability, scalability, and reach leveraging data science and AI to significantly increase the efficiency of audits,” complements Patrick Hilt, Chief Technology Officer at SustainCERT. “This is an important step toward digitizing carbon markets, ensuring the quality and reliability of carbon credits being issued and unlocking scale.”
