Elisa Industriq today announced global availability of Lumi, an AI-powered virtual manager that takes production planning to a new level. Part of the latest version of the sedApta Demand Driven Manufacturing+ (DDM+) platform, Lumi combines real-time data and machine learning with conversational AI to make production and logistics processes more intelligent, agile and efficient.

In times of volatile markets, traditional planning approaches show their limitations – they are too rigid, too reactive and often insufficiently meaningful. Agile supply chain management is needed to adapt production to demand in real time and ensure processes remain efficient. This is where Lumi comes in, bringing intelligence to every phase of production planning, from demand forecasting and detailed planning to collaboration with suppliers.

Lumi accelerates decision-making and optimizes the supply chainThe AI-supported virtual manager Lumi serves planners as an intelligent decision-making partner. It understands the requirements of modern supply chains, increases productivity through providing targeted information, and enables companies to make well-founded decisions faster in day-to-day business.Lumi is always available just a click away in the DDM+ suite. Lumi responds to natural-language questions, analyzes historical and current data, detects anomalies, and uses machine learning to forecast demand. The solution suggests optimizations to, e.g., avoid supply bottlenecks and offers support in real-time, what-if scenarios.

In addition, Lumi automates repetitive tasks and reduces inefficiencies. The tool can be used in two ways: reactively (by answering specific questions, e.g., about stock levels) or providing independent support by, for example, analyzing processes and proactively pointing out anomalies. This flexibility means that Lumi can support the entire supply chain planning process.

“With Lumi, we are ushering in a new era of production planning – moving away from static processes towards dynamic, data-driven management. Lumi helps companies respond more quickly to changes, identify bottlenecks early on, and make their entire supply chain more resilient.” says Benedetta Cuttica, CEO of sedApta, Elisa Industriq.

Harmonized data for a transparent supply chain

A central component of the sedApta platform that includes Lumi is standardized data management: a flexible data lake combines internal information with external variables. On this basis, Lumi can perform multidimensional analyses, analyze simulations and the results of different processes, and integrate large amounts of data from ERP, MES, and warehouse management systems. This enables the virtual manager to transform results into actionable insights.

Typical use cases for Lumi include

  • Ad-hoc generation of KPI reports, e.g., for demand forecasts or on-time delivery performance
  • Optimization and autonomous correction of sales forecasts, taking external variables into account, such as inflation and country-specific holidays or regulations
  • Detecting disruptions in the supply chain and suggesting solutions, e.g., searching for alternative suppliers if there are delays in the material deliveries
  • Real-time information on stock levels, call-off quotas and other supply chain status data
  • Creation of overviews of the ecological impact of certain materials or transport options
  • Continuous monitoring of processes
