With the new Flow Pack slip ring, Moog Rekofa presents an innovative alternative to established components in flow pack applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries. The new slip ring offers impressive performance and sustainable efficiency.

Across Europe, the market for packaging solutions has been experiencing continuous growth for several years. This is driven not least by sectors such as the food and pharmaceutical industries. Around 93% of all food products sold in Germany are packaged, almost half of them in plastic. Market research even puts growth in the pharmaceutical products sector at more than eight percent per year until 2028. The food industry in particular is already dominated by particularly flexible flow pack applications, which are characterized not least by their versatility in combination with the efficient use of new and sustainable packaging materials. The growing challenge of realizing packaging solutions that meet demand and are economical while being as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible is increasingly affecting not only the materials used, but also the systems used and the processes associated with them.

As a long-established company with a long tradition, Moog Rekofa, a subsidiary of the global market leader for slip rings, Moog Inc. since 2017, has been able to meet changing customer requirements with innovative products that combine efficiency and sustainability for more than a century. With the Flow Pack slip ring F 7270, this is now also happening in the form of a central component of modern packaging systems. The new Flow Pack slip ring reliably masters the special challenge of electrical signal transmission in rotating applications under demanding environmental conditions and at the same time is characterized by technical features that clearly set it apart from competitor products.

The main feature that distinguishes the Flow Pack slip ring F 7270 from functionally comparable products is the complete elimination of mercury, which is still used in some competitor products today. Moog Rekofa has replaced this toxic and potentially environmentally harmful metal with a lead-free carbon. This prevents mercury, which is liquid at room temperature and highly toxic to humans and the environment, from leaking out as a source of danger. The dust-tight housing also prevents the abrasion that occurs during slip ring applications from escaping and can therefore be regarded as harmless to health and environmentally friendly. Thanks to its long service life of more than 500 million revolutions, supported by an easily replaceable and therefore maintenance-friendly brush block, the Flow Pack slip ring also conserves resources.

During development, Moog Refoka focused on cost-effectiveness through the use of standard components in addition to an overall cost-effective design.

With a special focus on the requirements for applications in the food and beverage sector, the Flow Pack slip ring F 7270 in its IP 64 classified housing complies with the UL508/CSA22.2 standards and the current RoHs regulations and is therefore suitable for international use.

"An investment in the new Flow Pack slip ring F 7270 is not only an investment in occupational and environmental safety as well as in resource conservation and sustainability," says Oliver Follmann, Managing Director of Moog Rekofa GmbH from Antweiler. "As an alternative to conventional mercury or gold wire slip rings, it also guarantees maximum efficiency through improved signal and power transmission, longevity with simple integration and maintenance and thus, in addition to attractive acquisition costs, noticeably reduced operating costs."
