“The trade fair and the supporting programme are entirely geared toward the needs of the sector,” says Marianny Eisenhofer, Director POWTECH. “We give exhibitors and visitors the networking and knowledge platform that they need in order to discuss current and future challenges, and to develop solutions.”
The combination of an exhibition with machines and systems in live action, presentations and dialogue between experts is POWTECH’s recipe for success. It encourages its trade visitors and makes the trade fair a leader in its sector in Europe.
In four exhibition halls, POWTECH will host 479 exhibitors in the fields of mechanical process engineering and analytics, 41 percent of whom will be attending from outside Germany this year. After Germany, the countries most extensively represented are Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria, the UK, Czech Republic, Turkey, Belgium and Spain. Spanish trade association TECHSOLIDS and its members will have their own pavilion in Hall 3A.
Processing and packaging combined
FACHPACK, the trade fair for packaging, processing and technology, will be held in parallel with POWTECH this year. The combination of POWTECH and FACHPACK will welcome more than 1,600 exhibitors, bringing together the entire value chain from process through to technology and packaging. Both events address manufacturers of industrial and consumer goods, especially in the food and feed, chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, plastics processing and mechanical engineering sectors. A single admission ticket will give visitors access to both events and the respective exhibitors.
The new Industry Guide will make it quick and easy for visitors to find the exhibitors, new products and lectures that are relevant to them – from food and feed to chemical and pharmaceutical, plastics and rubber, ceramics, glass, building and non-metallic minerals, and the environment and recycling.
“Knowledge to go” in the stagetalks expert forum
Spread over all three days of the event, a total of 40 lectures in the stagetalks expert forum will answer the important questions affecting the sector. The lectures are free to attend and no registration is required. Leading thinkers in the bulk goods sector will present practical solutions in the following subject areas, in English and German:
- Environment,
- Future Energies,
- Powder Processing,
- Industrie 4.0 and
- New Food.
The focus will be on methods that go easy on resources and the environment, as reflected by the many lectures on the cost-efficient handling of raw materials used in batteries, waste-to-energy solutions and protein processing in the manufacture of plant-based alternatives. Topics on real-time volumetric measurement of bulk solids and efficient management of metal powders in additive manufacturing will also be included.

Interaction and participation at the Networking Pavilion
The Networking Pavilion in Hall 4 is the meeting place for networking on an equal footing for everyone with a passion for mechanical process engineering. This is the venue for dialogue between industry and science, universities of applied sciences and other universities, professional associations and research institutes, with a focus on linking disruptive future-oriented technologies and process engineering.
Innovations at the “Innovation made in Germany” pavilion
National start-ups will meet with major industry players and show, at the “Innovation made in Germany” pavilion, how they are shaping the future. In Hall 3, the young companies will present innovations of interest and the latest trends from and for the bulk solids sector. International start-ups will also introduce themselves in a dedicated pavilion in Hall 3.
Meeting place for experts on all aspects of pharmaceutical processing and packaging
Users in the pharmaceutical field will feel at home in the Pharma.Manufacturing.Excellence trade forum in Hall 3A. The Pharma forum, coordinated by the International Association for Pharmaceutical Technology (Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Pharmazeutische Verfahrenstechnik, APV), brings together presentations on functional excipients, state-of-the-art systems to make processes more efficient, and ideal drug forms. All questions on coating, granulation and cleaning, continuous manufacture and tabletting will be answered in 24 English-language presentations. Visitors will also get an overview of:
- Trends in pharmaceutical production,
- Continuous manufacturing,
- 3D printing,
- Packaging, and
- Particle characterization and analytics.

Live demonstrations on explosion protection
Fire and explosion protection is a high priority at POWTECH. By means of two live, controlled explosions at 12:30 and 16:30 each day in loading yard 3A/4A, and in the forum programme, manufacturers will demonstrate solutions to prevent accidents in production facilities. New developments at a national and international level in the area of standardization, science and technology in explosion protection will also be covered.
Guided tours on explosion protection
The DSIV Guided Tours complement the live demonstrations on explosion protection at POWTECH. During the guided tours, experts at the exhibition stands have a maximum of ten minutes to present key aspects, products and solutions to problems. The meeting place for the DSIV Guided Tours on fire and explosion protection is loading yard 3A/4A.
- DE: Tuesday, 27 September 2022
12:30 – 14:00
- EN: Wednesday, 28 September 2022
12:30 – 14:00
Participation in the Guided Tours is free. No registration is required.
Special show on dedusting technology
The special show “Air movement – sustainable process technology for Air Pollution Control and Drying Technology” by the VDMA Research Association for Air and Drying Technology (FLT) will take place in Hall 3. This is where exhibitors from the areas of dedusting technology, fire and explosion protection and drying technology will share their knowledge on efficient and safe processes for occupational safety and environmental protection. The exhibits have been specially developed for continuous operation, and meet the challenges of legislative regulations and applicable administrative rules in the chemical, pharmaceutical and foodstuffs industry. In addition to these aspects, the focus for the exhibiting VDMA member companies is on ensuring maximum operational safety and constant optimization of work processes.
