Frickenhausen near Stuttgart, 27th July 2023 – The IAA Mobility is the most important industry gathering for visionaries, stakeholders and decision-makers in the field of mobility. In Hall A3, Stand C12, Farasis Energy is presenting itself to the general public for the first time and showing its sustainable battery technology – modules and packs are already being supplied by the Siro joint venture from Turkey.
Battery Goes Orange – thinking batteries further
Farasis Energy’s high performance battery technology offers both long range and fast charging capability. "With an energy density of 330 Wh/kg, a range of around 1,000 kilometres can be achieved," elaborates Dr Keith Kepler, CTO and co-founder of Farasis. "Customers who place more emphasis on fast-charging capability will benefit from a battery with an adapted cell design. This can have an impact on energy density but allows the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in just 15 minutes in fast charge mode."
In addition, the company has developed a battery concept that prevents thermal runaway of the module in the event of damage.
"We are very much looking forward to our first IAA trade fair appearance. We will present our developments and innovations and show that we are part of the future of electromobility. We will personally present how we live up to our claim "thinking batteries further" to interested parties at any time at the stand. In our lounge area under the motto ‚where people and visions come together‘, we are happy to discuss ideas and concepts in a relaxed atmosphere," explains Dr Stefan Bergold, General Manager at Farasis Energy Europe.
For detailed insights, the experts from Farasis Energy will present various cells, modules as well as a battery pack and the areas of application on site. The company will demonstrate the respective benefits of the solutions, the developments of the cell chemistries and the entire range – from entry level to best performance – for customers and interested parties at the exhibition stand.
Pioneering spirit and further development
A major focus of the company is on research and development work. As a pioneer with around 150 patents, the international team is currently working on the 5th generation of battery cells. In addition, Farasis offers an innovative concept for the recovery and reuse of valuable materials through its own developed direct recycling process. "Hardly any other industry has developed as quickly as electromobility. The new challenges spur us on to create even better and more future-proof products that can keep pace with the transformation. The IAA offers us the opportunity to prove exactly this to the international trade audience," says Dr Stefan Bergold, General Manager at Farasis Energy Europe.
Farasis Energy is a leading developer and manufacturer of high-performance lithium-ion battery technology and pouch cells for electric mobility and other sustainable power storage solutions. Founded in 2002 by Dr. Keith Kepler and Dr. Yu Wang in California, the company now operates research and development centers in China, Germany, and the United States. There are currently two production facilities in Ganzhou and Zhenjiang (China), with further production facilities being built by 2025, thereby increasing total planned capacity to 180 GWh/a. A new battery plant is also being built in Gemlik (Turkey) with the establishment of the Siro joint venture between Turkish electric car manufacturer Togg and Farasis Energy. With more than twenty years of experience in research and development and with over 150 patents, Farasis Energy is shaping the future of electric mobility as a pioneer. In addition to Togg, its major strategic partners also include companies such as Mercedes-Benz and Geely.
