Infineon’s automotive RISC-V virtual prototype is a Software Development Kit (SDK) consisting of RISC-V core Virtual Prototype (VP) based on the Virtual Development Kit from Synopsys, software drivers and a template project for rapid prototyping.
Lauterbach’s TRACE32® development tools enable simultaneous debugging and real-time tracing of RISC-V IP cores as well as trace analysis including code coverage measurements which can support bringing embedded designs to market faster, safer, and more reliably than ever. Lauterbach’s innovative iAMP debug and trace technology enables to debug multicore systems with identical CPU instruction sets in just one TRACE32® PowerView GUI.
The unique Hypervisor- and OS-awareness features of TRACE32® provide key insights into applications, the operating systems they are running on – regardless of whether it’s a rich operating system, an RTOS, or a mixture of all – and Hypervisors in virtualized environments. Lauterbach is partnering with all major software suppliers within Infineon’s ecosystem and supporting their corresponding products. While TRACE32® OS-aware debugging can query and display all OS objects such as threads, message queues, and more, TRACE32® Hypervisor-aware debugging allows engineers to perform concurrent OS-aware debugging for each guest OS/virtual machine (VM) and display an overview of the overall system. With this, engineers can better understand how these are behaving and utilizing chip resources.
TRACE32® supports over 150 microarchitectures – most in the embedded industry – including architectures used in the automotive industry like TriCore™ and Arm® and enables a seamless transition to the RISC-V architecture. Lauterbach engineers made significant contributions to define all RISC-V debug and trace standards in the key working groups within the RISC-V Foundation.
“Infineon leads the industry in making RISC-V the open standard for automotive”, says Norbert Weiss, Managing Director at Lauterbach GmbH. “With the latest support of TRACE32 for Infineon’s automotive RISC-V virtual prototype, we enable engineers to develop their applications with our market-leading debug and trace tools right from the start."
"We appreciate Lauterbach’s contributions to the RISC-V ecosystem to drive innovation and enhance the developer experience. Lauterbach’s solutions and intuitive tools enable developers to fully utilize RISC-V’s potential, fostering creativity and efficiency. This partnership is essential for delivering advanced automotive products," said Thomas Schneid, Senior Director Software, Partnership and Ecosystem Management at Infineon Technologies.
Lauterbach’s TRACE32® development tools enable developers of embedded-automotive platforms to evolve their applications based on Infineon’s automotive RISC-V virtual prototype even faster and easier.
Following Infineon’s announcement that the company will launch a new automotive microcontroller family based on RISC-V within the next few years, which will become part of Infineon’s established AURIX™ automotive microcontroller brand, Lauterbach is already committed to fully supporting this family with TRACE32®.
