The subsidiaries Rheinmetall Technology Centre and Yardstick Robotics will be presenting the following at the joint Industrie 4.0 booth:
– a control-base for live teleoperation of a vehicle on the exhibition grounds
– the collaborative robot: ‘YARO Cobot’ – a specially developed and extremely robust robot for reliable use in harsh, unstructured outdoor environments
Teleoperating vehicles on public roads requires powerful IT systems. In the ‘POQUASIA – Post-quantum secure generic IoT application’ project, the Rheinmetall Technology Centre is developing a scalable, real-time-capable and generic Internet of Things (IoT) platform within a cloud environment, supported by MIRA GmbH. The aim of the project is to demonstrate the potential of cloud-based applications by example of teleoperation, and to test the use of post-quantum cryptography as protection against future cyber threats. Visitors to the trade fair will have the opportunity to experience a ‘remote-controlled’ vehicle in a teleoperated shuttle on the exhibition grounds. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection and supports the European IPCEI-CIS initiative to realise a unique multi-provider cloud-edge continuum. The outcomes of the project will be presented in expert lectures:
– ’PoQuaSIA – Digital innovations for future mobility’ on 2 April 2025 at 5:40 p.m. in Hall 2, booth A18
– ‘Digital innovations in Cloud environments for future mobility (Project POQUASIA)’ on 3 April 2025 at 5:05 p.m. in Hall 8, booth D26
YardStick Robotics GmbH is a manufacturer of AI-based robotic solutions for extreme, unstructured and unpredictable environments. The specialised robotic systems ‘YARO Cobot’ are developed for the toughest of applications – in other words, robots for ‘dull, dirty & dangerous’ tasks. YARDSTICK ROBOTICS is currently working on a multitude of solutions ranging from the deep sea to eventual extraterrestrial missions. Following the motto, ‘Robots for the World’s Toughest Jobs’, the focus is also on the safe automation of industries that have so far had no access to such robotic solutions.
At the Hannover Messe, YardStick Robotics is presenting the outdoor cobot ‘YARO Cobot’ as part of the Robot-X research project, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection: a specially developed collaborative robot for reliable use in harsh, unstructured outdoor environments
The Robot-X research project aims at digitising the product life cycle for robotic systems, connect the players involved and optimise the interaction process. The barriers for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) trying to get into robotic systems are often high due to large investment costs and complex development phases. The Robot-X project intends to help lower these hurdles and make it easier for SMEs to access customised robots and automation lines. This is to be made possible by model-based system development (MBSE) and the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
At the joint booth of Platform Industry 4.0, a wide range of industry solutions will be presented that inevitably can make a relevant contribution to digital transformation. The joint booth combines three topics: Manufacturing-X will show concrete applications that make value chains more competitive, resilient and sustainable. The 8ra initiative, which emerged from the IPCEI cloud, will present concepts and technologies that will realise a unique multi-provider cloud-edge continuum. Lastly, visionary projects in the area of future mobility will demonstrate how the blueprint for data ecosystems from the manufacturing industry is also transforming mobility. The data-based industry of the future promises almost unlimited new opportunities.
The Hannover Messe is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from 31 March to 4 April 2025. We look forward to welcoming you at our booth (Hall 8, booth D26).
