The direct exchange of information between all participants of traffic in real-time with low latency called V2X (vehicle to everything, x: V=vehicle, I=infrastructure, P=pedestrian) is an important aspect of future traffic concepts improving safety, optimization of the traffic flow and enabling autonomous driving. The implementation of V2X technology is based on broadcast protocols with low latency and well defined protocol and behavioral standards. A basic requirement for V2X is the compatibility of the technology implementation for all  real traffic objects.

The OmniAir plug fest is a proven event to ensure the correct implementation and interoperability of V2X standards for chipset providers, Tier 1 and OEMs. In October S.E.A. Datentechnik GmbH will join the first European plug fest and provide test capabilities for the RF-compliance measurements of c-V2X (LTE-V) and DSRC (802.11p) communication as well as test for the protocol implementation according to regional standards for US, Europe and China.

The modular V2X test platform from S.E.A. is based on Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology and comprehends all aspects of automated V2X test from measurements on the physical layer for compliance or production test, protocol level test as well as integrated V2X traffic scenario simulation for the test of V2X applications. The compact, integrated S.E.A. test systems enable the efficient and reliable test of V2X technologies for these different aspects using scalable software and hardware components.

The S.E.A SDR approach ensures the early, independent availability of new technologies like c-V2X today – or 5G in the future – in early implementation stages featuring specific functions for validation and verification test. Using the National Instruments PXI platform the S.E.A. V2X know-how can be integrated with other sensor technologies (radar, lidar, cameras) to full closed loop (HIL) ADAS/autonomous technology  test systems. Together with partners S.E.A. has formed ADAS iit, a full-coverage competence partner for test system of autonomous driving technology including V2X.
