The channels cast with Combicore safely conduct water or chemical coolants through the component to where it needs to do its job. If the coolant is very close to the individual battery cell, optimum heat transfer is possible. If it gets too cold, the coolant can be heated electrically.
Combicore cores can be used in all casting processes, including high pressure die casting. The core contour corresponds to the later channel. Even complex geometries in 3D with undercuts are possible.
Already in 2012, a cooling element for hybrid technology with cast-in Combicore channel was awarded at the International Die Casting Competition. This channel was over 1700 mm long and with 108 bends quite complex.
Combicore supports and enables sophisticated thermal management in electric cars. In addition, thanks to Combicore, components can be cast close to the final contour, thus saving considerable material and efficiently supporting lightweight construction.
