For the third time already, automobile tuner Kourosh Mansory and couturier PHILIPP PLEIN are cooperating on the individualisation of a Mercedes G-Class: Following the Mercedes-Benz G 55 AMG, which was completely luxuriously tuned in 2011, and the "Star Trooper" based on a Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG presented last year, the two exceptional designers are now presenting another product of their joint creative power: the "Star Trooper Pickup".
Distinctive body modifications and an interior lavishly wrapped in leather have already dominated the exclusive cooperation in the previous conversions. And in their third and current project, the designer duo MANSORY and PLEIN once again succeed in refining the vehicle to the highest technical and design standards.
As revolutionary as PHILIPP PLEIN has changed the fashion world, Kourosh Mansory successfully transforms luxury class vehicles into exclusive unique pieces. With their long-standing cooperation, the two designers are once again creating a unique off-road vehicle that combines luxury, individuality and the highest driving performance.
The body styling of the G-Class painted in the “50 Shades of Grey camouflage design” is impressive both visually and technically. The complete aerodynamic body parts are made of carbon fibre from the front apron to the widenings of the flanks and the rear apron. But the ultra-light and high-strength material alone is not enough for MANSORY to achieve the exclusivity it is striving for. In the so-called “Autoclav-Prepreg-Process”, the carbon is compressed so strongly in a special pressure chamber that no air pockets remain in the material. Normally this cost-intensive processing method is only used in aerospace technology. However, thanks to the know-how of a genuine automobile manufacturer, the carbon specialists at MANSORY do not have to make any compromises in quality during production in the company’s own autoclaves. PHILIPP PLEIN logos on the front and back of the vehicle unmistakably indicate the cooperation between MANSORY and PLEIN.
No less elaborate is the reworking of the engine by the noble tuner. Larger turbochargers, new downpipes and a high-performance exhaust system are adapted to the 4.0-litre V8 power unit with newly programmed ECU. This results in a proud 850 hp instead of the 585 hp of the standard G 63 AMG. The maximum torque rises from 850 to 1,000 Nm. This improves the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h to just 3.5 seconds, while the top speed is also increased to 250 km/h.
In order to bring this enormous power to the asphalt, the luxury tuner equips the "Star Trooper Pickup" with high performance tyres of size 355/25R24 all around. They are supported by new, one-piece type "YN.5" forged wheels in the corresponding dimension 12.5×24, which MANSORY presented to the world public for the first time last year at the Geneva International Motor Show. The chassis as such was raised by 6 cm in height in order to cope with the hard use of a real pickup.
Of course, the interior design is in no way inferior to the exclusive exterior. For the upholstery of the interior, MANSORY’s saddlery only allows flawless leather hides from selected animals. The animal skins, perfectly trimmed with various decorative seams and finished with hexagonal stitching, are distinguished by their durability as well as their particularly pleasant feel. The "grey camouflage design" of the exterior is also transferred to the interior. The exquisite overall impression is refined by the airbag sports steering wheel and the aluminium pedals. Fine details such as applications made of visible carbon fibre combined with masterfully crafted PHILIPP PLEIN logos also document the holistic cooperation between the two companies in the interior.
Only very few people will be able to enjoy this unique vehicle named "Star Trooper Pickup". The noble off-road vehicle is limited to only 7 conversions worldwide.

Premium British cars and their special flair have always been a passion of owner and the man who gave his name to the company – Kourosh Mansory. This enthusiasm resulted in him spending several years in England and also led to a personal commitment to automotive values such as tradition, hand crafting and sophisticated technology. So right from the founding of the company in 1989, special attention was paid to the brands Rolls-Royce, Bentley, and Aston Martin. Nowadays, MANSORY devote the same attention to detail to individualising models from the brands Porsche, Lotus, Maserati, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, McLaren, Lamborghini and Ferrari, and they have established themselves as one of the largest, most highly regarded car individualisation companies in the world.
In the middle of 2001, MANSORY relocated their head office from the Bavarian city of Munich to Brand in the Fichtelgebirge Mountains. By taking over the tuning business area of the Swiss company Rinspeed AG, and setting up MANSORY Switzerland AG in November 2008, MANSORY expanded their product portfolio to include a range of accessories for Porsche cars. Refinement of the brands Range-Rover, BMW and Porsche will continue to be marketed under the brand MANSORY Switzerland. The Mannheim company AEV-Automotive GmbH has been part of the group since 2009. The exclusive interior design specialist supplies leading automobile and caravan manufacturers.
Manufacturing at the highest technical level, combined with outstanding workmanship and the finest materials represent the quality standard of the MANSORY company. The basis of the MANSORY technology programme consists of harmoniously designed aerodynamic programmes, ultra-light aluminium wheel rims and powerful increases in engine power output. High quality accessories and stylish interior design complete the range.
MANSORY now has a team of more than 250 employees and can fulfil nearly every automotive desire of its exclusive clientele. The company does this in Germany and worldwide through its selected distribution partners.
