The first day at the company is a very special day for new trainees. The eagerness to start training and this new phase of their lives was clearly palpable among the 135 young people who started their future careers today at Dillinger and Saarstahl.

Dillinger and Saarstahl have for many years relied on their own strong supply of young, skilled employees and are among the most important training companies in the region. “Even under the currently difficult economic conditions, we are maintaining our high level of training and offer young people first-class vocational training at the highest technical level,” said Joerg Disteldorf, Chief Human Resources Officer for Dillinger and Saarstahl.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was not possible this year to welcome the 135 young trainees as one large group. The trainees therefore started their first day of work in small groups and were welcomed in parallel in Dillingen and Völklingen by their trainers, works council members and youth representatives. Chief Human Resources Officer Joerg Disteldorf joined in with a video message: “We are delighted that you have decided to train in our company! For the best steel, we need to have the best employees. For us, you are the future! Together with you, we will undergo the transformation process that lies ahead for the steel industry in the coming years.”
