With expertise and the right product, RYTLE and Krone are facilitating the Dock’n’Deliver project for Rhenus Home delivery.

From the beginning of November 2020, four swap bodies that can hydraulically lowered to the ground – so called HUBs – will support the transport of goods between the Rhenus Home Delivery warehouse in Hoppegarten and the micro depot in Westhafen Berlin. Thereof, this will enable easier delivery to end customers in the city centre. The HUBs are provided by the project partner RYTLE, who has already established itself on the market with its smart logistics concept for the last mile. The swap body, produced in Herzlake by the commercial vehicle specialist Krone Commercial Vehicle SE, is characterised as a mobile depot with little space requirement. Due to the hydraulic lifting system as well as the electric gates, an uncomplicated loading and unloading can be enabled.

Dock’n’Deliver, a strategy that specifically deals with the requirements of the last mile, is a concept that grew out of the Rhenus Home Delivery Innovation Hub. The Innovation Hub acts as an interface between the operational level and the market for new technologies in order to develop solutions for current logistical challenges. Particular attention is paid to the search for solutions for goods that are difficult to transport, such as furniture, household appliances and mattresses, which can be delivered directly to the point of use on request. ‘We are happy to be part of this exciting project,’ Johannes F.D. Hill, Business Development Manager at RYTLE is indicating. ‘Our coherent logistics concept can be flexibly adapted to the requirements of everyday transport. We are happy to support Rhenus Home Delivery with our products in making their transport business even more efficient, ‘continues Hill.

‘In our Innovation Hub, we deal every day with the question of how we can further adapt our special Rhenus Home Delivery and Rhenus High Tech networks to the changing requirements. By using the RYTLE HUBs and a well thought-out delivery strategy monitored by telematics, we hope to be able to make our processes even more flexible, time-efficient and transparent, ‘adds Jonas von Frieling, Head of Department of the Innovation Hub at Rhenus SN digital.
