Customer requirements in the automotive industry are changing. A higher degree of digitalisation and more process transparency are expected. In this context, the Melzer car dealership has been using the signature pads signotec Sigma LITE, signotec Zeta and signotec Delta as well as the signature software signoSign/2 since February 2021. Since then, an average of 100 documents have been digitally signed here every day – and without a single failure.

For the owner and managing director of the car dealership, Christian Melzer, the added value for customers is the top priority when it comes to digitalisation. The associated process and cost optimisation is a welcome side effect. "Everything in our industry is being automated and digitalised, except the connection to the customer. That’s exactly where I want to start.", explains Melzer.

After thorough research and an intensive test phase, the choice fell on the signature solution from signotec. "Due to technical weaknesses, the competitors simply could not keep up. The good concept of hardware and software, the fast and friendly support and a partner from Germany – this is simply a very sympathetic overall appearance," says Christian Melzer. The particularly smooth scroll function of the signotec Delta, the ability to read out document contents as variables and the insertion of handwritten notes directly on the signature pad were also convincing.

In the past, countless documents were printed twice in the car dealership, signed, scanned again and filed manually. Today, the documents are generated in ecaros 2 by procar, transmitted to signoSign/2 without media discontinuity, signed on the signature pad and then archived in the DOCBOX® in an audit-proof manner. The reduction of working time due to the complete digitalisation of the processes is remarkable: The car dealership saves about 6 minutes for each garage procedure. With approx. 160 garage procedures, this means a total of 16 hours of time saved per week, i. e. two full working days.

A special highlight: At the reception, the car dealership uses the signature pads in "dual-pad mode": The customers are shown the order to be signed on the 10" LCD of the signotec Delta and can read it in full before signing. For countersigning, the employees of the car dealership then use the signature pad signotec Sigma LITE at their workplace.

In addition to the above-mentioned advantages, the use of this digitalised solution enables one of the dealership’s employees to work from the home office. "This is very unusual in car dealerships,", says Christian Melzer, "but thanks to the electronic signature processes and digital document storage, accident processing and other back-office activities can also be handled smoothly regardless of location."

"We are more than very satisfied. The implementation went faster than expected and the simple handling is quickly explained even to technically inexperienced users. The acceptance of our employees and especially our customers was very high right from the start.", Christian Melzer concludes.
