As of 01 May, Dr Martin Watzlawek will take over the management of the newly created "Strategy and Innovation Automotive" department within the AEB (steering committee of the Automotive Division). The 47-year-old physicist joined the company in 2007 to introduce group-wide technology and innovation management; in late 2011 Watzlawek took over the management of the strategy division of the REHAU Group. Before this, he held various positions at Bayer and Daimler.
The work of Dr Martin Watzlawek will focus not only on the development of specific strategic initiatives, but also on the future strategic positioning of the Division in key areas such as electromobility, integrated mobility concepts and autonomous driving. Additionally, Watzlawek will focus on identifying new additional business opportunities that will provide added value to automotive customers and position the company as an innovation leader in the future.
Watzlawek’s broad knowledge, his many years of professional experience in strategy and innovation as well as his outstanding networking within the industry make him a suitable candidate for the management of the department.
By filling this important strategic position, REHAU sees itself well-positioned to continue its international growth. The global group of companies had a turnover of over Euros 3,5 billion last year.
