Composites United e. V. (CU) presents "CCiiot" – the new Industry 4.0 platform that offers companies the opportunity to connect their machining centers, visualize data securely and confidentially, and analyze it across companies as needed. This provides participating companies with insights that help optimize production processes, develop new business models, monitor quality inline, digitize customer service and ultimately increase competitiveness.

Technology-specific, proven platform

CCiiot adds the new IoT component to the already successfully established collaboration platform “Carbon Connected" of the association. This is the iiotecos software from the Berlin-based operator of the inno-focus service. iiotecos acts as an interface into which companies load the data from their machines and sensors in the form of digital twins. These can then be visualized and analyzed to optimize processes. The data can also be shared with external experts, such as tool manufacturers. Which data is shared with partners is decided solely by the respective data generator.  In addition to being able to visualize parameters in 2D and 3D representations, a tool catalog is also available, for example. For the time being, the focus of the platform is on machining, but it will be expanded in the future to include other processes for composites component production.

Data sovereignty: Data producer retains sovereignty over trade secrets and know-how

Concerns about protecting trade secrets are still a major reason for companies not to embrace networked manufacturing, which is why data sovereignty is CCiiot’s top priority. This means that the company that generated the data can determine, down to the smallest detail, who it wants to view which data. It is also important that the operators of the service (CU and inno-focus) do not pursue any vested interests in the data and can therefore act as neutral service providers.

Composites United e. V. on a strong digitalization course

The implementation of the Industry 4.0 platform marks a milestone in Composites United e. V.’s focus on digitalization. "We are pursuing a consistent digitization strategy and want to help our members to be and remain innovative and sustainable in the future. It is not without reason that we have anchored the area of digitalization as one of the ten central fields of action in our CU strategy," says Dr. Gunnar Merz. "In our new service, we combine tested and certified technology with the support and advice of our experts. In this way, we significantly facilitate the entry into the Industrial Internet of Things," adds Dr. Tjark von Reden. Both CEOs agree that the new service offers members the opportunity to increase their competitiveness.
