The war in Ukraine continues to leave the world stunned and horrified. E.ON condemns war and violence and fully supports the political sanctions taken in Europe and Germany.

In the coming weeks, the United Nations expects around four million people at the borders of the neighboring states to flee the war in their homeland if the situation continues to worsen.

As a first step, E.ON is donating €1 million to aid organizations working to help refugees and those affected by the war.

In addition, numerous private donations from E.ON employees throughout Europe are currently being received on a donation platform set up for the Group, which the E.ON Group will double again. Many E.ON employees also want to provide private help to directly support the people in Ukraine. The company and co-determination are already working together to coordinate the help provided by employees.

The company is currently experiencing a great wave of solidarity and willingness to help the people in Ukraine. Our employees in our regional subsidiaries in Poland, Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary are already seeing the terrible humanitarian effects of the war on a daily basis in the immediate neighborhood of Ukraine. Concrete relief measures on the ground are either already underway or in the planning stage – these include the construction of energy infrastructure for refugee accommodation on the Romanian border with Ukraine and the provision of in-house leisure and recreational accommodation for refugees in the Czech Republic. In Poland, sleeping bags, bandages and mattresses are being collected at E.ON headquarters there to be given to the Polish Red Cross.
